Attic Fans and Ventilators

The following standards pertain to attic fans, ventilators and turbines:

  • When mounted on the roof, they must match the color of the roof.
  • When mounted on the gable end, they must match the siding or trim.
  • Fans, ventilators and turbines, including solar-based units, shall be mounted on the rear roof ridge so as to minimize visibility from the street and should not extend above the ridgeline.
  •  Ridge vents are permitted, when covered with an approved roofing material.

Application Procedures

Application is not required for attic fans, ventilators and turbines as long as applicant
complies with all of the standards above.
