Fellow Virginia Run residents ....
With the coming of warmer weather, the Community continues to appropriately address measures to minimize the disruption to our everyday lives. We are a Community, and as social beings we enjoy our time with others – especially in the warmer weather spending more time in the outdoors. That said, our most important role is to do what we can to remain healthy and avoid unnecessary gatherings that may unknowingly further spread the virus. Earlier in March, the Virginia Run Board of Trustees carefully discussed and voted to cancel all Community Center based events until further notice. We decided that we will resume Community activities only after receiving proper guidance from public health officials. Our rational continues to be based on the fact that we cannot provide assurances that all Community facilities can be made free of any residual contamination. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience these actions may cause.
For the foreseeable future, the Management Staff continues supporting the Community Center activities. They have been directed to limit member access to Management when and where necessary. Drop boxes have been provided for dropping off and picking up documents. Please call or email, in advance of your arrival at the Community Center.
All Community meetings will continue to be virtual for the immediate future. All members are invited to attend. Meetings notices will be held over Zoom and notices posted on the Community website each month. Our meeting schedule for the Architectural Review Board (ARB) is the first Tuesday of each month. The Asset Management Committee (AMC) is the second Wednesday while the Board of Trustees (BOT) is the second Thursday of the month. If you have not converted over to the new website, we highly suggest that you do so to receive the latest information and notices.
The tot lots, basketball and tennis courts remain open but social distancing and the wearing of PPE is highly encouraged, if not required. Members need to know we are not sanitizing these areas and if you choose to use them, you are doing so at your own risk.
Unfortunately, Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL) has cancelled the summer swim league for the 2020 season because of Covid-19. While the Governor’s plan for re-opening offers a glimmer of hope that pools could potentially open by late June, the guidelines still in place throughout the summer may not be broad enough to allow for us to operate the pool normally.
At the May Board of Trustees meeting, we discussed in detail the need to open the pool for the 2020 summer swim season. After a careful and deliberate discussions and in consultation with our attorneys, insurance company and NV Pool, the Board decided to leave the pool closed through Phase I and revisit that decision in Phase 2 and again Phase 3. While the pool has been prepared for operations, it will remain closed out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of Virginia Run residents and NV Pool operators.
We very much appreciate your patience and understanding. We know the Community is already out in force supporting each other and please let us know if there is anything we can do to help.
